The Pal Desk

Pal Desk

SOLD

From one friend to another…

We picked up this bright red vintage metal file cabinet from a consignment shop and added a handcrafted antique stained desk top made from a found slab of knotty pine.  The remnants of our favorite old painted door were used for the apron and we wrapped the custom made pencil drawer in vintage leather torn from an old bomber jacket.

Five Mile Drawers

Five Mile Drawers

SOLD

We spotted this vintage ‘Lyon’ metal drawer frame at a late summer local antique fair, and walked what seemed like five miles to find the perfect antique wood bin drawers to fit inside. The drawers were fitted with salvaged brass bin pulls and the piece was topped with a whitewashed oak countertop with a reclaimed wood frame.

Found Frames

Found Frames

These 20”x30” framed photos were created for a gallery show entitled ‘found’. The selected images, photographed by Jonnie Coutu over a period of seven years, are linked by a common theme – that of a place or an object that had been discarded or neglected, and then found. The frames, made from weathered wood found on a Cape Cod beach, were designed to support that theme. The images were printed on canvas to enhance the textural quality of the pieces, and antiqued metal corner angles add a slightly industrial feel.

Maywood Desk

The inspiration for the maywood desk sprung from a mid-century walnut veneer file cabinet found at a yard sale on Maywood Street. A fifty year old handmade drawing board, its green Vyco board cover pocked with years of use, became the desk top. The legs were pried from a sewing machine table that we liberated from Grandma’s attic, and the apron was wrapped with the stray pages of a vintage flea market novel. The desk is topped with a working industrial factory lamp.

North Main Dining Table

North Main Dining Table

SOLD

The north main dining table was crafted from salvaged finds from yard sales, Craigslist and mom’s basement. An outdated pine tabletop was given a new life when sanded and whitewashed. A peeling farmhouse door became the table’s apron trim, the ghost of its lockset still intact. The pared-down legs of a 1950’s drafting table give the perfect balance and allow the table height to be adjusted. Antiqued metal corner brackets and galvanized carriage bolts complete this piece.
